Founded in 2006 in the Texas High Tech Hill Country
Inside Methods was founded in 2006 by George Cowsar with offices in Dripping Springs TX (near Austin), and Fredericksburg (near San Antonio) to develop web applications and services. Before long the company evolved into specializing in developing apps for mobile devices. Starting with multimedia applications for Windows Mobile, then iPhone, iPad and Android. We're happy to see Google and Apple mixing it up in the market.
We are focused on developing for mobile devices but that often includes designing and implementing web based backend services. Our toolkit includes a wide range of tools from Objective-C (XCode), C/C++, Java for Android (Eclipse), to Ruby on Rails, PHP and a range of platforms and frameworks including Mac OS X/BSD Unix, Cocoa, Cocoa Touch/iOS, Linux and Windows.
In 2010 the company began hiring talented offshore engineers (Aleksey Skutarenko and his team from Odessa, in the Ukraine) as well as state-side land locked ex-Apple friends from far away places like Moorhead Minnesota, and we have contract engineers and designers from Russia and India. Our team leaders in Texas and the Ukraine have become very adept at managing distributed teams.
Our combined experience ranges from implementing low level networking protocol stacks, video streaming (real time protocols like RTP/RTCP and RTSP), audio and video codecs, web platforms like Ruby on Rails and Elgg, utilizing all the available web protocols and social networking APIs like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and SMS messaging, Amazon S3 and EC2 for cloud based services, and image and video processing libraries like ffmpeg, ImageMagick and OpenCV. We have ventured into extensive help and research assistant apps that involve PDF parsing, editing, and annotation and developed a variety of 2D (Cocos2D) and 3D (Unity) games for the iPhone as well as Mac and PC.
We've ported various Unix libraries and other open source software to iOS and Android including SNMP, ffmpeg, and tar, zip, unzip, gzip, and gunzip.
In our past experience we have developed major applications, system, and networking software components for Apple, Cisco, and Microsoft and consulted with major customers in a variety of industries and locations around the world. We span the globe but we're still small and agile, and we produce great products.
Located in CenterLake Business Park, a nice little complex of native Texas limestone office buildings 12 miles from Austin, and 7 miles from Dripping Springs.
